You Have Landed, Now What?

Managua Airport

After your plane has landed, the plane will taxi up to the gate. Upon getting off the plane you will make your way to immigration check-in. You should have both the immigration form and the contact/health form filled out. Both should have been provided to you by the airline staff.

All non-Nicaraguan Citizens are required to pay a $10 USD entrance fee.

After you pass immigration, you’ll continue on to baggage claim. In baggage claim, you will find a few duty free shops to buy liquor and other goods, make sure to watch your things should you decide to purchase. In addition, you will be greeted by airport staff eager to help you; it is up to you to agree to their assistance for tip.

Staffers may just impose themselves on you and begin helping by grabbing your luggage. If you don’t want the help, let them know by saying “No, gracias” and grab your luggage.

You now have all your belongings, you will then pass by one final scanner. This is a little more complicated, customs can be picky on certain items such as electronics. I travel regularly with a camera and lenses, I also keep my original receipts for such items and have a copy of all serial numbers and receipts I can access online.
